Talking Statues by Grace E

''I hate this so much!'' said the tallest member of my family.

''We'll be freed soon.'' I said.

''Yeah right.''

I tried to stare at my mother but my head was so frozen I was only able to move my mouth. Ever since me and my family had been frozen as statues 5 years ago I hadn't been able to move. I wondered what my family looked like now. My head had been frozen in a position in which I could only see the water fountain at the front of the massive shopping mall. I could hear my mother sigh.

The Hand by Grace E

“What is it?”
“Where has it come from?”
“How did it get on the roof of those flats?”
Questions were being shouted and screamed around the whole town. A giant rubber hand was stood on the very top of the flats in the centre of the busy city. I looked up at the ugly thing. Its eyes were so narrow you could just only see them. It was not a pretty sight to see. It was like it was controlling the whole city of London. I couldn’t stop staring at it. It was just horrifying. I wanted it to go!

…the tiger was blocking our escape…by Grace E

The tiger was blocking our escape. I looked at Rory's face. He looked as terrified as me. If we don’t make it out of this cave I am blaming him. He was the one who insisted on going into the cave, now we are very close to getting eaten by a tiger. It had orange, fiery eyes. Like fire. It's back was arched and it's neck was raised. High and proud. It was thinking. Thinking dangerous thoughts and planning cunning plans on how to kill them or torture them. They dare not move. Their feet were glued to the spot.

flame, swimming, celebrated, white, tomorrow by Grace E

Tomorrow is the anniversary of when it happened. When we celebrated my little sister's 7th birthday, at a swimming pool in Boston. I don’t remember that much about the incident. I remember that I was wearing a plain white costume, and that my flame red, ginger hair was tied up in a ponytail. Mum had told me what happened. That the pool's slide had a loose bolt that had come untightened, and that I was just unlucky that I was the child who's leg it stuck into. But I will always have a souvenir of the incident. Only one leg.

As the door slammed by Grace E

As the door slammed I knew that he was here. That he was waiting. I cautiously went downstairs and the door was wide open. I slammed it shut and locked it. As I turned to go back to my room he was stood there watching me. "I'm always here Nieve. Deep down you know that right?"
 ''I do," I whispered.
"I need you to do me a favour."
"Always."
Suddenly a knife fell off the table onto my foot. I screamed as the sharp blade stabbed into my foot. I turned around painfully and saw my brother was gone.

Local boy found dead in Roundabout pond! by Grace E

At 1:35 in the afternoon a 14-year-old boy was found upside down in a pond by a woman walking her dog.
Ambulances and police arrived at the scene immediately. Devastatingly, his life could not be saved and passed away at 2:02 am. His name was Billy Hardy and the police are determined to find his killer, as it was obvious that he was murdered before he was placed exactly in the pond. His family have asked to grieve in peace. The town are questioning how seriously the police are taking this  incident as all investigations are private.

Special possession by Grace E

It sits on my bedside table. Pinging when someone texts me. It's protected by a password that nobody else knows. I hold it by its patterned pop-socket and I watch all of my notifications pop up on its screen. I feel a wave of disappointment and sadness as it runs out of charge. I run up to its charger and plug it in immediately! I take it to school and leave it in the office, and when I've finished all of my important education, I run to collect it. My special possession truly is amazing and I love it.
