… I was so cross that … by Faith P

It was Friday, now I was ready for the weekend, I had so much planned I couldn’t think straight. My mum opened my bag and took out my homework book!
“Oh no!” I said.
Then she took out a sheet of maths homework, “Oh no!” I said again.
“You will also have the 100-word challenge,” my mum said.
I go to school all week and have to do more work at home, I was so cross that I had work to do!
Mum made a hot chocolate; I started and soon finished my homework. The weekend had now started.

The Theatre by Faith

After tying my lace, I rushed to catch up to the rest of the group, I pushed open a heavy door, when all of a sudden, I realised I had opened the wrong one! The room I entered was like I had stepped back in time, it must have been the original part of the theatre, it had an old candy bar, a magnificent grand staircase, huge arched windows and a massive chandelier. As I stood admiring, imagining what it would have been like the door opened….

“There you are, come on in the show’s about to start” my teacher said.

…empty. What a surprise!…, Faith P

My dog Toby has been acting a little different for a while now, I started to think he was getting lonely or even ill. Every time I went in the kitchen he runs and hides, I was so suspicious, I needed to get to the bottom of this.
I went to the kitchen, the door of the cupboard, where his treats were kept away from him, was slightly open. I opened the cupboard door, a packet fell out, empty! What a surprise, Toby had eaten them all. I looked over at him, he ran and laid on his bed. No more treats.

RED LADDER SINKING COINS PAVEMENT by Faith P

As my friend and I were talking, sat on a red blanket in the back garden, my dad was trying to stop his ladder sinking into the grass so he could clean the windows. After a while we heard something drop near us and we both looked round to see what it could be, then it happened again and again but this time it was louder as it fell onto the pavement next to us. We then realised dad had a hole in his pocket and every time he moved up the ladder, coins were falling out of his pocket.

…the vinegar was too sharp…, Faith

As we began to pack to go out for a picnic, I was trying to decide what crisps to take, chicken or prawn cocktail flavour. While I was stood deciding, my brother picked out salt and vinegar.
When we got to our destination, we laid out a blanket and set out the food, after finishing my sandwiches I started to eat the chicken flavour crisps. My brother began to shake his head, “Try one of these,” he said.
As I tried one, I quickly had to get a drink as the vinegar was too sharp and stung my lips instantly.

The Lost Bear by Faith P

“Someone has dropped their teddy,” said mum as we walked home.
I thought how upset someone could be when realising. I had a great idea, so I took it home.
Once home, I began to make posters for the lost teddy - including a printed picture and our phone number. Then we went out putting the posters around the area.
Within the hour one very relieved mum rang up and we met up for the teddy to be reunited with her upset daughter, who stopped crying immediately and gave teddy a massive cuddle.
“We are so grateful, thank you,” she said.

… it was completely out of tune…, Faith

As we sat watching the entertainment in the park, there was a man with a guitar sat on a stool on the stage. I thought to myself he looks the sort who would be pretty good - like Ed Sheeran.
The judges asked how old he was, he was twenty-three from Grimsby, they said you may begin. He pulled the microphone towards him and started to play his guitar. My younger brother was asleep in the pushchair. As he started to sing my brother woke up startled and put his hands on his ears, it was completely out of tune.

Faith P: FRINGE EGGS BLACK WASHED FLICKERING

I had just finished getting washed one freezing winter morning, “Are you ready to collect the eggs for breakfast?” my aunt said.
As I peered out of the window it was still pitch black. I fastened my coat, swept back my fringe and put on my hat.
Stepping outside with only the flickering candle light we made our way across to the hen house. When we arrived, I was really cold and hoped they had laid, my aunt reached in.
“Hooray we are in luck this morning,” she said.
I couldn’t wait to get back for a hot breakfast.

Statues by Faith P

Feeling bored, I picked up the post on my way downstairs and I noticed an unusual picture postcard. I was interested to find out more about the brightly coloured statues, so I decided to research.

I found out they were, ‘The Lanterns of the Terracotta Warriors’ in Sydney, Australia. They were originally created for the Beijing Olympics in 2008 by the Chinese artist Xian Nan. The statues stand 2.1 meters high made from fabric and wire, they glow brilliant bursts of colour after dark. Then mum came through with a sandwich, it was lunch time, where had the morning gone.

… but how could she just disappear…, by Faith

One afternoon my dad said he would take me and my friend to the park, so after lunch we got ready and went.
When we arrived, it was quite busy on all the equipment so instead we played hide and seek. I counted to twenty and tried to find my friend, but I couldn’t find her. I thought I has searched everywhere and even asked dad if he had seen her, but he hadn’t.
But how could she just disappear I thought, then from a bush running and screaming came my friend as a spider had crawled on her arm.

Bicycle Empty Bubbles Fired Pink, by Faith P

My bicycle needed cleaning as it was very muddy, I poured pink cleaning solution into a bucket until the bottle was empty as I wasn’t sure how much to use. As I began to add water and clean my bike there were bubbles everywhere! I then guessed I used too much, so I thought the only way to get rid of them is to use dad’s pressure washer, so I stood my bike against the wall and fired cold water all over it, they soon disappeared. It was a lesson learnt that a little solution is all that is needed!

Faith P - The light blinded him

As I crept downstairs with my torch held tightly in my hand, I began to hold my breath as I could hear a rustling noise coming from the living room. I had no idea what I was going to find, and everyone else’s bedroom doors were closed. I finally reached the bottom and slowly pushed the door open, I shone my torch to where the sound was coming from.
“Arrgh!”
I then realised it was my brother and the light blinded him.
“What are you doing?” I said.
“Opening presents - it’s Christmas morning!”
I dropped my torch and joined him.

Decorating the Christmas Tree - Faith P

As I tied the ribbon on the yellow spotty box I was so excited that today was the day I was going to decorate the Christmas tree.
Mum was outside taking cuttings of deep green holly with bright red berries to make a wreath for the front door.
The first bauble I pulled out from the box was a bright blue one, I carefully placed it on one of the branches and I found myself gazing into the shiny mirror effect ball reflecting my beady eye back at me.
My favourite part is placing the sparkly star at the top.

Faith - but they were exhausted

My family were looking after our friends’ pug dogs and I was excited as I love them. I was promised that when they returned I could take them for a walk before they went home. While waiting for them, I played with the pugs with their toys and they followed me around the house. When our friends came back I rushed to get the dog leads to go for a walk, but they were exhausted and didn’t want to move from their beds they just wanted to sleep. I was so disappointed, but had spent an amazing time with them!

We seemed to be on the television by Faith

It was a gorgeous day, so as a family we decided to visit Lincoln Castle and Cathedral. As we climbed Steep Hill we looked in the windows of the little shops on the way up. Without knowing, when we got to the top Peter Levy from BBC Look North was filming live talking into a camera, I then realised that we seemed to be on the television as the cameraman turned around to show how busy the area was becoming. I smiled and carried on walking, I never thought when I got up I would be on the television that day.

The Bike by Faith P

My family and I was staying at our weekend holiday home, it was a sunny day so my dad and I went off on our bikes through the woods seeing lots of wonderful things, I was leading when something all of a sudden caught my eye.
‘Stop! Stop!’ I shouted
We saw a bike growing in a tree! What a strange sight! After looking for a few minutes, I started thinking about that bike, why was it there, who owned it?
At home I started to research and found a number of stories, but which is true? Still a mystery.

Faith P - Bricks Gorilla Yellow Running Pretty

I was sat in my favourite chair reading a book about wild animals when all of a sudden I heard a loud terrifying shrieking scream coming from the television, I looked up from my book immediately to see on the TV screen a woman dressed in a pretty yellow and white polka dot dress running away in a panic from a large fierce gorilla who was knocking down a wall with bricks flying everywhere.
As I watched I shouted, “I’m reading a book on wild animals and this happens, they really should be kept in the wild.”

Faith P - …I wondered what was behind the door…

I was trying to sleep when I heard a noise downstairs like a door shutting, at this point I woke up fully, I didn’t know what to do. I went into my parents room to see if anything had fallen but it hadn’t. I heard the noise again so I decided to be brave and went to investigate, it was coming from downstairs. I crept down and walked quietly towards the kitchen, I wondered what was behind the door? The next thing my bedside alarm clock was ringing and I realised it was morning, it was all a bad dream!

Faith P - because I said so

Only five minutes left on the last day of the school term, everyone was getting ready to go home when our teacher handed out a sheet of paper, it was homework to do over the holidays.
 Everybody moaned, “No not homework!”
“Do we have to do homework?” Faith said.
Yes, you do, if its not done you will be in big trouble and miss your break times until it’s completed!” the teacher replied.
Everyone put it in their bags while the teacher was watching.
Why do we have to do homework?” said Arthur.
The teacher replied, “Because I said so!”

Ladybirds by Faith

I couldn’t find a ladybird to photograph anywhere, it was all I needed to finish my nature project. That day, my cousin came to help me search, he soon got bored and started playing with his Lego figures, so we started to play hide and seek until it was time for him to go home. The next morning, I began my search again. All of a sudden, I couldn’t believe what I saw! Standing on a plant were some of my cousin’s Lego figures surrounded by hundreds of ladybirds, I quickly took a picture before they all disappeared.
