"…but I’m afraid it’s the last one," he said… Sophia

Grandad!" I yelled, being extremely excited because I was staying at my grandad's house and he always shares his sweets with me (only when my nanny is not home!)
“Hello grandad and nanny!” I said delightfully whilst giving them a hug.
“Come in sweetheart,” said nanny softly.

I would describe my nanny as a typical average nanny, as when you look at her you see tan tights, hearing aid, used tissue tucked up her sleeve, burgundy slippers and false teeth. Once nanny’s head was turned grandad said… “I would offer you a sweet but I’m afraid it’s the last one.”

...but it was far too hot... by Sophia

Yesterday, I enjoyed a lovely and pleasant bike ride along the countryside with the rest of my family. We set off at 11:15 and arrived at 12:00 just in time. We had brought a picnic and a blanket ready to sit on, loving the view from our favourite spot in Wainfleet, by the river. We had a food fight with jelly and I got covered, the whole family joined in. We all had sandwiches and ice lollies I had packed the lollies because after the bike ride we were exhausted I thoroughly enjoyed it but it was far too hot.

…but it made my tongue tingle… Sophia

Yesterday, I tasted the most delicious sweets as nanny took me to the sweet shop and the sweet shop keeper was giving out FREE, FREE samples of popping candy!

I tasted the most scrumptious popping candy but my little brother would disagree as he does not like the tingling sensation and is constantly complaining in my ear saying ‘but it made my tongue tingle’. I could not describe how tongue tingling and mouth-watering the popping candy was so I convinced my nanny to buy some so she could try. Nanny put a small amount in her mouth and screamed, "yuuuuuuck!"

So as she lifted the lid by Sophia

Gracie was sleeping at her Grandmother’s and for the first and was sleeping in the attic. She stumbled into the house and jumped up the stairs dragging her case and teddy behind her.
"Hello? Hello is anyone here?" curiously shouted Gracie whilst climbing the stairs up into the attic.
Gracie spotted her Grandma sleeping on her bed so she crept over to the cupboard (to put her things away) so as she lifted the lid and a tragic scent of dust and grime smothered her nose. Horrifically she saw lots of mice!
“AARRGGHH! MICE!” screamed Gracie as she slammed it.

Sophia - 100WC#32

Henry's Mum shouted, "Can you come in for lunch?"

Henry ran inside little did he know that he had left his lego pieces outside. However, whilst Henry was eating a large magpie clutched his lego man and carried the toy to a bird table (thinking it was food). Mum asked if he could put the remaining bread in the bird table, to his surprise he noticed his Lego piece was on the bird table. How did this get here he wondered? He heard a SQUAWK!!! He turned his body to face the black and white magpie sitting on the fence!!

Sophia - 100WC#30

“Harry I know you are excited but keep the noise down with your drum set please!” politely asked Harry’s Mother.
Suddenly, the noise fell silent, all that Harry’s Mother heard was Harry’s sister’s lion game. The next morning Harry took the cornflake box from the shelf, when from the corner of Harry’s eye he noticed the drumming competition. Before thinking, Harry begged his Mother to enter. She refused to let Harry for the next few hours until she got annoyed. His Mother agreed, Harry was over the moon with delight, thrilled he danced on the table.

(he lost the competition)

Sophia - X Marks the Spot

“Can you please, please, please read me this book?” pleaded Jasmine’s little brother.
“Ok what book is it?” Jasmine replied.
“It’s a pirate book! ARRGH!” her little brother explained.
“The adventures of Captain Buccaneer and his crew,” read Jasmine as she turned the page, her little brother (Charlie) yawned drowsily. “Sally, find my treasure map! Billy take control of the helm!” Everyone obeyed the captain as they were planning to grab the treasure! “I know where my treasure is buried. Throw down the anchor we are here. X marks the spot bellowed the captain!”

“Night, Night,” wished Jasmine sweetly.

Sophia …as they turned the corner… 100WC#26

They got their children in their car seats and fastened their seatbelts. They pulled out of the drive and noticed in the car's rear view mirror a large van was following them and as they turned the corner the truck continued to follow!

Eventually they got to the supermarket and parked the car. The mother was frightened and so was the father as the driver of the truck came towards them. She reached for a phone but before she could click dial he shouted, “Shouldn't you be worried about your kids?” They turned their heads, the kids, they were gone!

PIPE SWAM GREEN CAREFULLY HORSE by Sophia

The small buckle fell to the ground and down the green pipe. The buckle was supposed to hold the saddle to the horse and so this caused the rider to fall off and fall to the ground. Meanwhile, the buckle floated along the pipe and clean water swam behind it pushing it along.

The rider could not afford a new saddle so she needed to get the buckle removed from the drain pipe immediately before it was pushed any further and was lost forever. Panicking, the rider stuck her hand into the narrow pipe and carefully pulled the buckle out.

… then when I looked out of the plane window…by Sophia

I am now terrified of flying. When we went to Turkey I looked out of the window I saw the beautiful city of Istanbul. However my enjoyable flight soon turned into a frightening experience when the girl sitting next to me told me an alarming story. The girl explained that the plane we were traveling on was not powerful enough to carry every passenger as there were only 2 engines. Then when I looked out of the plane window I felt the plane plummet… As my stomach churned little did I know that we were just descending to land!

100WC#22 …but it said ‘sweet’ on the wrapper… by Sophia

There is a very sweet girl in Mr Dub's class. Her name is Annie and she likes Mr Dub. His classroom is usually full with positive energy and he is cheerful as his birthday is coming up although none of his students had mentioned it. Mr Dub tried everything to remind the children but no one took an interest except Annie.
On Mr Dub's birthday, Annie handed him some chocolates and wished him a very happy birthday.
"The sweets are a bit bitter but thank you very much," said Mr Dub.

"But it said sweet on the wrapper!" Annie replied.

100WC#21 … the silence was deafening…

In the abandoned house the silence was deafening. You couldn’t even hear a mouse until me and my friend opened the wardrobe and there was a skeleton living in there. We both screamed and ran for our lives. We ran out of the front door of the house and we were still screaming all the way home. That night I couldn’t sleep but just there next to my door was an outline of the same skeleton we saw in the wardrobe. I blinked twice and then when I opened my eyes the skeleton was gone. I knew I saw it but I was not believed by anyone.

Today in class we had a giant paper airplane fight. It started when we were seeing how paper planes work. The teacher was tapping at the board while I could hear some folding behind me. Suddenly, a paper airplane whooshed past my shoulder. It hit the teacher's head and bounced back. The silence was deafening as the teacher turned around.
"Who did this!" he yelled. All the children pointed at the person behind me. It was Liam, the naughtiest boy in my class. Liam can scare anyone away by just pulling his mighty fist. I turned my head round.

The silence was deafening, for an arena it was quiet. The audience were as still as statues and Messi was halfway through a flip but he was stuck in mid-air. I was the only one moving, or alive for that matter. The roof was also stuck in mid-air. I walked out of the arena, grabbing handfuls of food. No earth. No grass. No air. I had to hold my breath but soon gave up. I knew I was away from earth. The statues could have been dead people and what caused Messi to be in the air could be the gravity levels. There must be a simple explanation, there always is mind you. But where was I and how did I get here?

The silence was deafening, on my little sisters birthday. We were supposed to be singing but no one was because there was a green nosed witch. She had frozen all my family and friends which made me very sad. The witch said I will curse your family. Which I knew I didn't want that to happen. So I had to go to the witch’s castle and see if I could go into the dungeon through the fire and see if I could get the golden trophy. Which I knew I would! In a way. I did eventually.

I was walking down the cold muddy path and everywhere was silent not a sound to be heard. The silence was deafening then a loud screeching noise came across the woods! "Eek" I shouted as I tried to cover my ears but the sound made its way through, so I started to run from the sound but it got louder and louder so I went the other way as the sound disappeared I stopped and silence was one more.  I wondered to myself what it was suddenly, it popped into my head it was my shoes! So I stepped lighter on my feet as I did NOT want to experience the sound again. But I could be wrong...

One day I was walking along the woods, the silence was deafening that I could not hear a bird tweeting. I could smell the apple blossom from far far away. I was looking around the forest trying to find a beautiful flower to take to my mum and dad but all I could see was trees. Even though I was in the middle of the woods there was still silence. It was really weird. The trees were like a lime green. The flower I wanted was pansy because my mum’s favourite colour is yellow and my dad’s favourite colour is red.

I was visiting a castle in the highland in Scotland but when I got there it was empty the silence was deafening and spooky. The castle was an old ruin and they were supposed to have a tour I paid £100 for this tour. Wait what's that it’s a blue light wait this is like the Disney film brave that is in Scotland. Maybe I should follow it well Merida did not do very well when she followed the wisp so maybe I shouldn't. Let's just go yes that’s what I'm going to do go home. I'm going to get my money back.

I was at school, I hate school, I am always tripping and falling. I am the clumsiest child in my school, and I am not proud of it. It was Monday, boring Monday. It was lunchtime, and I was looking for a place to sit. Eventually I found a place to sit, as I walked over to sit down, I slipped on a banana peel. Everybody just stared at me, not saying a word. The silence was deafening. They should have laughed, but the silence was bad enough. I was so embarrassed, I never wanted to go to school again.

A few years ago, a young baby girl was born and her name was Kara. From the minute Kara was born she had a problem with her ears. She suffered periods of loss of hearing. A few years later Kara had experienced an extremely terrifying storm. The ear-splitting sound of the storm caused further unrepairable damage and it led to Kara becoming deaf. Kara’s life was changed forever and the massive disability of not being able to hear made Kara feel the silence was deafening. Kara had to live with this disability the rest of her whole life and she was never the same….

The little girl slowly but steadily entered the old, creaky house. She pushed the pitch black gate open with a nudge and it fell off its hinges. She stepped onto the welcome mat that looked like it wasn’t very greeting. As her feet rested on the old flooring, the silence was deafening and she slowly plodded down the stairs. Suddenly a loud bang came from the other room and she was knocked over! She ran out of the house and never set eyes on it again, leaving her prized possession an old heart charm the colour of the midnight sky.

I was in a car with my Dad, we drove to a park on a sunny day, then everything turned black so we had to go back home quickly before we got seen by the zombies, once we got back home we saw that everyone went out the house. But then I heard that the silence was deafening in my ears but it was only the zombies outside banging on the door. Then everything came back sunny again, then everyone came back home. Then Dad and I went to go do some racing on the rugby pitch with our remote control cars.

On Saturday my family was going shopping in town, I didn’t want to go as shopping was boring, so I asked if they could drop me off at the library so I could look for another Diary of a Wimpy kid book and then  pick me up when they had finished. So that’s what we did. On the way I could hear birds singing, people chatting, vehicles beeping and children shouting it’s so noisy. As I entered the library and closed the door behind, the silence was deafening what a change by only walking through a door peace at last.

On my holiday to Spain we stayed in a big mansion but what we didn’t know was it was a spooky one. When we got there I was petrified because it was scary looking. I nearly ran as fast as I could away. I walked into my room and it was that quiet the silence was deafening. There were paintings on the wall that made me feel like they were looking at me and there were cobwebs in the corner of my room and on the room so I ran as fast as I could to my Mum and Dad.

Every Saturday, me and my friend Kieran go to the cinema. Usually we watch funny films for children, but this time it was different. Like always we chose a kids' movie, however we had no idea, like most of the children watching, what is about to happen. Through most of the movie it was hilarious, however right at the end, one of the main characters had a bad accident. Everyone held their breath with a hope for positive end. The silence was deafening as if nobody was present at the theatre. Finally, awaited by everyone, the happy ending came and we all sighed with relief.

This is it, I am playing in Wimbledon finals and it’s the championships point. It’s now or never, the crowd goes quiet, the silence was deafening. I pick up the ball and toss it up in the air. The breeze blows my hair back. I serve it, and he returns the serve, I don’t think I can get it. I leap and stretch as far as I can, the ball just touches the end of my racket. The ball hits on the white line it is in. At first I can’t believe that I have won. I had dreamt of this since I was 10.

The silence was deafening. But then, a sudden movement, behind the big dark bush… A rustle. A creature? What was it? And what did it want? I didn’t know, but what I did know was that it seemed aggressive… Really aggressive. As I turned away to run something grabbed my shoulder. It was out of breath, breathing hard on my neck. Quick reactions are my strength; I kicked back and made a run for it! Heading straight back for my house I heard a call, “Chloe, Chloe!”… How did it know my name?

100WC#19 by Sophia

A dark night at about 7pm, a young girl looked out her window to find she could not see one person in site. The street were covered with glistening golden raindrops, as the reflection from the lamppost gave the rain its wonderful colour. The raindrops looked like a glorious ocean of shimmering stars. In the distance above the drenched trees there was a tremendously fluorescent light. When the young girl noticed the light she saw four of them, she wondered if she was seeing things so she rubbed her eyes and looked again…. But where were the dazzling street lights?

…what was that I could feel?…, by Sophia

Usually I read a book in bed so I reached out to my bedside table to find myself wondering what was that I could feel? I saw an eye catching, thick and colourful book, it was covered with glitter and I could not wait to read it. As I began to read I got transported into another land as the lifelike description kept me hooked to read on. As I turned the page I could not wait to find out what happened next! I did not want to go to sleep. As I reached the final page of the outstanding book I realised it was morning!

The light was so bright by Sophia.

A pretty girl called Katie was walking her beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel whose name was James. Katie took James across her street to the harbour when a police car burst out of nowhere and it frightened both Katie and James. James did not like the alarm and Katie was so stunned she did not notice the constant barking by James, who was so scared and quivered as the light was so bright from the flashing sirens and so hurriedly ran away from Katie straight in front of the police car. Fortunately Katie quickly grabbed James into her safe arms.

The Ship by Sophia

Many years ago a young and intelligent boy called Pat O'Brien had dreamed of one day discovering the legendary abandoned ship in Ireland.

Many years later when Pat was 23 he traveled to Ireland to try and fulfill his dream. His adventure began searching through the murky waters desperately trying to unearth the historic ship. After several days Pat was feeling disheartened and was beginning to give up when he was reminded of one place he still needed to investigate and there stood before him was the historical, abandoned ship. Pat was so thrilled he gazed in awe and amazement.

As the leaves rustled by Sophia

Suddenly, Savannah awoke to find… an enchanting, mysterious, portal in front of her eyes.
“Savannah, help please help,” cried a mysterious voice.
Savannah was debating whether to enter the portal and although it took a long time, she made her decision. Savannah apprehensively entered the portal, not knowing where the journey would take her. In front of her stood an old woman in front of a golden tree full of thousands of beautiful pink leaves but as the leaves rustled against the wind small raindrops started falling from the white icy sky.
“Where am I?” asked Savannah quietly to herself…

100WC#12 He was shocked to find…by Sophia

He was shocked to find a horrible stench, a dangerous scent, and fearless beings could not be in the presence of the extremely disgusting scent. “What is that stench - banish it at once! Wait I need information from this creature,” demanded Nulth. Once again he tried to open the toxic bag that within it held the victim that is now in the hands of Nulth.
Once Nulth opened the bag there laid a pitch black shape it was half skunk and half dolphin, suffering from being abandoned from the water. Its only way to protect itself was its toxic scent.
