A few years ago, there was a girl called Ally. She was always cheerful and full of happiness, but one day all that would change. Her joyful smile would fade away on that very sad day. Little did she know, that day was right around the corner…

Ally suddenly woke up with a beaming smile on her face. She darted down stairs at the speed of light, eating her breakfast in two mouthfuls. Soon after, Ally was racing across the pavement and rushing into school. The teacher greeted her with a smile from each ear. “Welcome to today’s lesson, but I'm afraid it’s the last one!.” he said, sadly.

…but that’s what happens in Brazil when…by Anh

The football fever is sweeping over the world as the amazing World Cup arrives in Brazil. Every four years, a giant football competition is held in various countries. Brazil has won the World Cup an amazing five times, they're really enthusiastic about football! If you have no football, you would make one. A typical home made football would consist of rubber bands and plastic bags, but only the poorer side of Brazil would do that. Some people even use plastic bottles as footballs but that's what happens in Brazil when you're crazy about football! Over thirty different countries take part, it's one of the highlights of sport!

Everyone gasped. A dark brown egg-shaped object fell from the sky. "Oh no!" someone shouted. The whole world fell silent and not a sound could be heard. It was as if time had suddenly got awry and started moving in slow motion. Then, a loud thud echoed over Mini-Land. The circular 'thing' cracked open and a white goo erupted from the heart of this 'volcano'. Fear had never been so alive in that land. It was like a flood!
The government soon found out. They sent thousands of workers to help clear up the mess but none of their tactics worked.

"Keep running, my friend!" Lucy desperately shouted at me from behind. I turned round to see the beast catching up. Its wriggling tongue reached out and tried to grab me before I escaped but the creature was too slow. "Yes!" I whispered to myself in triumph. Then, I turned around to notice Lucy wasn't beside me.
I looked up into the cold starry night, expecting her to fall from the sky. I sighed. What if she's gone forever? I thought. I was just about to lose all hope when a black hole appeared. It was a gateway to another dimension!

…but where could I go… by Anh

"Hmm," I thought aloud. I had found a time machine in my garden. There were so many possibilities but where could I go? I could go to the dinosaurs sixty-five million years ago. Maybe I could go to the Victorians in the 1800s? How about seeing the Great Fire Of London in 1666? I sighed. I had all this power but no idea how to use it. The sun was setting so I thought I would leave my adventures till tomorrow.

The next day, I woke up with an excited feeling. I rushed outside to see my time machine. My smile faded as I realised it was gone...

Why Lucy needs to go to school by Anh

Dear World Leaders,

I am writing to inform you about a child called Lucy. She is disabled, therefore she cannot go to school. Her right leg has been affected by a disease called Polio. Lucy cannot walk so she is not able to go to school. She is eleven years old but she still does jobs around the house and she looks after her younger brother. One of her wishes is to go to school. All her friends know how to read and write but poor Lucy doesn't. How about opening a school only for disabled children?

Thanks for reading.

…some of the words sounded like a foreign language… by Anh

A few days ago, Sophie was walking in the park. She came across a small hole near the swings. It was quite small so she just shrugged and walked away. Soon, she found a blue drink, just lying on a bench. As that day was so hot and she was so thirsty, she drank it. Almost immediately, she shrank! Then, Sophie had an idea. She ran over to the hole she found earlier and leapt in... It was a slide! It seemed to last for hours but when she fell out at the bottom, Sophie heard thousands of people speaking! Some of the words sounded like a foreign language...

"At last, the magnificent beast has been slaughtered. The Mini Men have finally defeated it, after countless years of sheer terror. At last, the citizens can walk out of their houses without looking around for danger!" A news reporter exclaimed, "What we call a Striped Buzzer has been found dead round the borders of Little-Foot Village and an ant walker found it while walking round the Weed Trees." Just then, a faint buzzing sound was heard and the ground shook. The buzzing grew louder every second and the Striped Buzzer's legs began to move. "What's happening!?" The news reporter shouted.

…but I couldn't find the egg… by Anh

"Yay!" My class screamed. Our teacher, Mr Blek, had a special Easter egg hunt. Everybody was very excited.
The next day, Mr Blek said to find the golden egg but not to touch it. I thought this would be quite easy but I couldn't find the egg. After a long time of searching, eventually, I found it. I was so amazed I picked it up instead of saying I'd found it. Almost instantly, I was transported to a place I did not know. There was a giant waterfall and lots of mushrooms and shrubs. Something weird was going on, but what?

But I thought I had enough time by Anh

"No!" I screamed. Milo the Magnificent had locked me up for being a girl. You see, Milo is now the Prime-Minister and he despises ever girl on the planet.
My captive ached with laughter as he marched away. I could see the keys, hung around a German Shepard. My world had been turned upside down and tears streamed from my eyes. Nothing could save me now. But I thought I had enough time and maybe I did. I was determined to escape so I thought for a minute. After a while, I had an idea. I could use her skills with animals and get the key!

Night Zoo Keeper by Anh

To become a Night Zookeeper would mean the world to me. I would protect the animals, prepared to lay down my own life.
These monsters from Nilth don't sound friendly either! I would also like to become a Night Zookeeper because I like animals and I know how to care for them and look after them. I have a few tricks up my sleeve too, to get rid of those pesky Nilth monsters for good! I hope I do become one...Thank you for reading and offering me this fabulous job as a Night Zookeeper and guarder of Nilth monsters.

…look up! Can you see… by Anh

Jack and William were playing football outside.
Everything was normal until Jack looked into the sky. "Look up! Can you see the spaceship?" He said in awe. William stopped and looked. They both saw something that defiantly wasn't a plane - It looked like something from Star Wars!
After that, neither of them said anything until Will broke the silence. "We need to tell somebody about this! We'll get rich and famous for discovering aliens!" Jack agreed so they went inside to tell their parents. "Mum, Dad! There's a spaceship!" They squealed. No-one believed them so they went in the garden again. The spaceship had GONE.

but when she lifted the lid... by Anh

"Don't eat any chocolate biscuits while I'm shopping!" warned Mum. Lucy sighed. Every time her mum left Lucy alone, she would run to the biscuit jar and wolf down the lot.
After a while of looking for handbags and cleaning coat stains, Lucy's mother left and as soon as she heard the door shut, Lucy leapt over to the tin. She needed to tiptoe in order of her tell-tale of a brother not to snitch. The tin was in front of her now and she was getting excited but when she lifted the lid all hell broke loose.
"Beasts are taking over England!" a newsman said...

The Gingerbread Man by Anh #24

A woman and her husband lived in a bungalow inside a village.
One day the old woman was hungry, so she made some gingerbread and cut it into the shape of a person. Three hours later, it leapt out and the lady wanted to eat it. The biscuit shouted, "Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread-Man!" The couple chased him and others joined too. Twelve people had followed him to a lake. A fox lived there and they became friends instantly. He moved in with the fox and they lived happily ever after!

"It's Flying Fearless!" cried a giant crowd, huddled together. Pushing through the Earth, he appeared in a heroic pose while he was drowned in a sea of applause. He had defeated the evil monsters in the centre of the Earth a moment ago. Fearless was being cheered at from all directions and everybody was talking about it. A bit later, the mayor turned up to give the hero a trophy. Everything seemed normal until everyone heard some faint manic laughter come from beneath their feet. It got louder and louder but no-one heard it again until a slimy tentacle appeared, breaking through the ground...

Everyone alive stopped what they were doing and grabbed someone else's hand and started marching into an endless hole located in a disabled person's house. It went on, people from all over the country, hypnotised by the swirling of this black hole. No-one was ever seen again after they entered the house of an unknown alien. Not the house itself was the thing causing the disaster, it was the shed, located above. People had theories. Theories that the shed was actually a space ship, others said that a machine was inside, making crazy things happen all over. Nothing seemed right...

"...And we never saw him AGAIN." Everyone gasped. Jonathan was telling a Scottish legend to the other children. It was a scary one. "People say the monster still lives in the river now. " Dan was so fascinated he asked Jonathon which river it was and was soon on a mystical journey.

When he arrived at the river, he ran to the side, expecting something amazing but all he could see was water. He sighed deeply, thinking he'd been tricked so he walked back to his home. But as soon as he sulked away a giant head arose out of the river. It was the Loch Ness Monster...

Breaking news!

A gorilla has escaped from the Higgilty-Piggilty Zoo! Be careful - this monkey steals shoes!

I laughed wildly. Just as I finished giggling, I heard a creaking wheel behind me. I timidly turned around. The gorilla stood smiling. It had broken through my wall! It had taken my bicycle and our families shoes. The gorilla really was grand. It danced around the house and put on a pink dress! My parents raced into the room and called the zoo-keepers. They came and forced the gorilla into their van. I never saw it again as I realised I had just dug into a magical world...

Sophie gasped. It had been a month since her neighbours had moved out yet their garden had become so over grown you couldn't see the house behind! Sophie wanted to have a look around the property so she sneaked in. She decided to check out the shed first so she timidly opened the door. As soon as the door creaked open, Sophie noticed a pair of pink ballet shoes sadly sitting on the empty shelves alone. They seemed pretty and Sophie was interested in ballet so she took them home. She didn't know what they did to her that night...

I sadly sulked in the back seat of my car. It wasn't my fault I had to go to the Fabulous Food Fair. The journey was long and boring and probably not worth it. When we arrived there were all sorts of stalls. Ice-cream, fast food, refreshments... I couldn't stop myself from drooling everywhere! Just when I was starting to enjoy myself, my mum yanked my arm and pulled it over to the FREE SAMPLE table. I was forced to try a plate absolutely full of lumpy green custard. ...
The custard tasted like the foulest tasting slop I've ever eaten!
